DescriptionGoing to sneak this one in on the last day of November and finish the western theme I had going on.Another Matt Wagner Zorro cover except this one with an unexpected team up. Django/Zorro is a seven issue crossover comic book mini series co-written by Matt Wagner and Quentin Tarantino. It stars Django from Django Unchained, but also the Spanish hero of the West, Zorro. I remember Matt talking about getting to meet Tarantino and watching movies and discussing story ideas with him. I never read the series but thought it was cool nonetheless. I bought this cover because of the Matt Wagner art and I liked the idea. Turns out I wasn't the only one. If the stories are to be believed, Tarantino liked the idea too and had a Django/Zorro script commissioned based on this series. Antonio Banderas and Jamie Foxx were both interested as well. That's a movie I'd watch. Alas it never progressed beyond that. Shame. It would have been cool! Django/Zorro #1 by Matt Wagner. On a 11X17 board. 2015 Social/Sharing |

One of Nick Barrucci's favorite stories to tell about Dynamite comics history was this title!

That does sound like a cool "What If" from film making history, would;ve been fun to see but at least the comic series exists so you could always go back to read that, and this is a nice cover to issue 1 by Wagner - congrats!

I love these types of "split character" covers! Never saw Django Unchained, so no idea how this would've been, but at least the art is good looking!

Good God man you've never seen Django Unchained! Why am I not surprised. If you like westerns, it's a pretty good one.

Nah, from what I saw on commercials, it looked like it was about some slave during the Old West and it just didn't seem appealing to me. When you've watched all the great Eastwood Westerns and a few other classic ones from the 50's and 60's, Django just didn't give me any confidence that it could possible be even remotely as good as those.
