It's taken Superman 365 issues to be honored by the mayor and Chamber of Commerce.  He must be wondering why in the hell it has taken so long!!!

Ah, good ol' DC Comics. Even well into the 1980's, they stupidly still thought that the comics audience averaged around 8 years old and continued to infuse their Superman stories with wasted, nonsensical panels of Superman yawning to indicate he was tired. Unbelievable to think that stupidity lasted almost half a century before someone at the company finally wisened up. Seeing OA page now brings a different light to it, of course, in a fun and silly way. But they're simultaneously a reminder of the mindnumbing and seeming impossibility of an entire corporation still thinking their customer base for their Superman comics was the EXACT SAME ONE since 1938!

Hah! Yes, but that was the problem. The ONLY people buying the Superman comics were kids your age and there weren't enough of you to even sustain continued publication. Did you know that for many years, the Superman comics (also others like Batman and Wonder Woman!) had a print run that wasn't high enough to break even on? The only reason they didn't cancel the continued publishin of the comics is because they parent company (WB) understood the IP value of the characters, particularly in merchandising, so they had no real choice but to keep publishing the comics as a loss leader just to keep character awareness in the public eye, for the sake of the merchandising to continue.
