Description

Axa was created and illustrated by Enrique (Enric) Badía Romero and scripted by Donne Avenell. The series began in the British newspaper The Sun on July 3, 1978, and ended abruptly on November 6, 1985, in comic strip 2238 within the 19th saga entitled The Betrayed. The storyline remained unfinished until the artist self edited the conclusion in 2012. Enric died in 2014.

The series was designed as a daily three-panel adventure strip, with two-panel strips being the hardest to find, especially if Axa appears in all her glory.

This two-panel daily strip belongs to the 10th saga entitled “The Carefree”, which was published between comic strips 1079-1198. The daily strip is number 1106, and I think it is one of the most beautiful in the saga.

That is absolutely gorgeous stuff from Romero! The beauty of humanity in one panel and the beauty of what humanity can achieve in tandem with nature in the other. Amazing daily. congrats!

The cityscape and mountains are rendered so beautiful, that it really matches Axa's gaze of wonderment. If someone were to wish for only one Axa strip, they's be doing well to wish for a better one than this.
