DescriptionFollowing commissions from Yamato USA in 2017 for the creation of DC Comics figures, Luis Royo continued exploring this type of representation in artworks inspired by pop culture universes filled with superheroines.Vampirella, created in 1969 by Forrest J. Ackerman and Trina Robbins, is a vampire from the planet Drakulon who comes to Earth after the destruction of her world. She embodies a mix of sensuality, strength, and mystery, acting as a heroine against supernatural creatures. From the darkness emerges a creature, perhaps human, though the supernatural can never truly be called that. Vampirella, in her two versions (anthropomorphic and zoomorphic), rises within the context that saw her birth and looks at us defiantly. Her figure evokes both fearlessness and attraction, and it is uncertain how wise it would be to look away from her. Social/Sharing |
