Description

In the early 2000s, Mike was at the peak of his artistic powers and taking commissions for recreations of some of his legendary covers.

Collectors could sign up and get him to do either a straight recreation OR they could request a spin on it and replace characters with ones of their choosing. He got requests for Kraven covers with Spidey in Red/Blue costume, he got requests for Cap Annual 5 with Batman swapped in for Wolvie.... they were awesome.

I was new to collecting at the time. I had no idea how rare and amazing an opportunity this was. I never got on the list. I never added one to my collection. Until this year...

Yeah, he was mainly one and done with recreations. Zeck kept his word and would never go back to doing them, even though they would fetch multiples of what he charged then.

Yeah, the original Deathlok version is iconic, but swapping in the Red Skull is a perfect substitution.

Stunning Mike Zeck recreation with Cap battling the Red Skull. Has Cap ever looked better than when Mike was drawing him? I think not.
