Description

New York Comic Con. April, 2008. 9.5"x12"

This piece was commissioned by another collector at NYCC back in 2008. Issue #48 of The Walking Dead had come out just a few weeks earlier and was the talk of the town. Kirkman and Adlard had killed off a huge chunk of the cast - including Lori and baby Judith! Original co-creator of the series Tony Moore was asked by a fan to homage issue #3's cover of the Grimes family, but with Lori & Carl as zombies. I'll likely never own a published Tony Moore TWD piece so this is a great consolation prize for helping a friend secure one of his own. And it's especially cool that it was drawn with Lori dying in mind, while issue #48 was fresh on comic stands. I've owned her death splash from the issue for well over a decade now and having this piece that was drawn the exact moment people were reading the landmark issue makes this a rather poetic pickup!
