DescriptionFrom one of the precursor books to AOA, after the Legion Quest began (in the prior issue - X-Factor #109) comes this page from X-Factor #110 (X-Factor became FACTOR X after issue #111 and returned a few months later with #112).This page features Mystique after she escaped from team X-Factor, during her assassination attempt on Legion. She has plotted revenge on Legion, since he killed Destiny in Uncanny X-Men #255. This page has her reminiscing on how Legion tried to trick her and save himself during a mindscape altercation, where he was delivering a message from Destiny and where he came up with a plan to make things right again, which ultimately led to AGE OF APOCALYPSE. She eventually escapes and boards a plane to Paris. She is still very angry at Legion and trembling just thinking about Destiny and her message from the beyond. The upper right artwork from Duursema and Milgrom with the reflection of Mystique’s true appearance and the middle left panel of Legion pouncing onto Mystique or dodging her advance (either work) really sold the page for me. Especially the panel with Legion, it’s a standalone great image that is cover worthy. And to top it all off, we get more story and connection of the relationship between Raven (Mystique) and Irene (Destiny). This came out in the mid 90’s when they were still keeping their true relationship a secret, but pages like this really showcase that their story together was much more deeply involved. And the page ends with Mystique’s true cold nature comes out as she orders the flight attendant around without any mercy or grace. A really great page added to my collection that further connects Mystique to Destiny, Mystique to Legion and Legion to Destiny. Which leads me to wanting to post sometime soon, my page from UCX #255 where Destiny dies from Legion’s hands and Mystique carrying her dead body. This grouping of characters is really fun since it also independently relates to the Rogue and Blindfold connections, which I also really enjoy. Just another piece of this X-soap-opera. Fantastic! Big fan of Legion and this was right in his primetime! The addition of Mystique brings the X-Factor and makes for a lovely page.
