Cullum specializes in painterly work, whether plein air paintings, still-life, or narrative works. His wonderful Kodi won a Reuben Award for best graphic novel in 2020. Cullum excels with gouache painting, maintaining a liveliness in his work, while often combining realism and cartooning.
