DescriptionJanNEWary continues, and this time the artist is Brook Turner . There are a handful of his pieces on CAF already but I think there is room for many more. While Brook is a new addition to my gallery today, I've actually had the piece for a couple years. After getting this commission from him I was so impressed that I asked him to do a piece for our Secret Santa that year, and I didn't post my piece because I did not want to tip off the person I was gifting to. As you can see, he really knocked it out of the park. The process of commissioning Brook was pleasantly collaborative and the result is packed full of detail, depth, and deliberate design. I love the personification of Arcane waiting in the shadows. You can find Brook on Instagram or in Iowa. Social/Sharing |

A touching image, with the pose and expression of Swamp Thing showing how intently he is on guard with his detemined stare. I can't imagine who he is looking for. Nice use of shadows around the edge to make the most of the central lighting.

The inclusion of Arcane was a creepy twist on an otherwise fun romp through the swamp!

My cousin Brook delivers again, and what a composition! Swamp Thing is in his natural element and this whole concept works wonderfully. You think he would let me ride on his shoulders?

If such a thing can be creepy crawly and pretty at the same time than such is this. Brook's art lives up to both his non familial namesakes! Sweet Swamp Thing piece.

Abby, when I met you
This was piece unknown
I set out to get you
Sketch with fine Brook gone
It was gift inside
There was Swamp Thing going on
You do something to me
That I can't Arcane
Call me Santa and I feel no pain
Every beat of my art
We got Swamp Thing going on
Turner love is blind
It requires an illustration
Alec's love we feel
Needs no conversation
We buy it together, ah-ha
Giving love with each Turner, ah-ha
Islands in the stream
That is Swamp we are
Holland in-between
How can we be wrong?
Grail away with me
To another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ha
From one Turner to Iowa, ah-ha

Lots of things to like here. Turner really conveys the mass and volume of Swampy, his depiction of Abby and her body language is exquisite, and the bonus of a creepy Arcane lurking in the foreground is the cherry on top.
