In 1991, Wiley launched his popular Non Sequitur strip, eventually syndicated to 700 newspapers as well as published on Go Comics and distributed via email. The strip oscillates between one-panel commentary and stories with recurring characters. Although I have tended towards collecting the art from his more politically pointed editions, the artistry on this particular day really attracted me. I do not ever recall Wiley going with rough pencil sketches of anything, before, which made this choice to depict the young brainstormers as stick figures scribbles such a compelling way to make a point that, I think, could only be made less effectively any other way. I'll stick a copy of the published version here, too… the contrast is so cool.

Fun to look into the thinking behind a gag. Neat how Bob looks like he fell in from a Far Side cartoon. Congrats!

The image of the published version really highlights how effective this choice was. Pure artistic illustration of being surrounded by immature younglings.
