DescriptionThis is definitely a “know it when you see it” type of page. I was almost marked “safe” from Comic Art Live in November, but I decided to have one final, last dig in the final hours of Sunday night and this page revealed itself. Took me a whole 15 seconds to put in an offer.Paolo Rivera is the definition of a modern master and really solidified it in his run on Daredevil. One board (below) is Paolo’s pencils and the one shown is his father’s, Joe. Typically, I wouldn’t care for two different pieces to make one, but this works for me. Father and son working together to create something special that neither can create on their own really hits home for me. Rivera’s style is classical, modern, kinetic and hard to pin down. It’s all things at once using the shadow more than the light. The fight between Daredevil and the Mole Man’s Moloids are more ballet than brawl. A dance of push and pull that sends our heroes down into a pit of teeth. It’s a great page to show someone what the comics medium can accomplish when it’s inspired. Social/Sharing |

Yes, I see the 'ballet' aspect. It's certainly a choreographed fight, and the poses are very fluid. Interesting lighting as well. Nice page!

Excellent high contrast lighting and dark shadowy DD battle page from the Rivera father and son team which definately makes it extra special. I can see why you pulled the trigger on this during CAL (I didn't even see/notice this one being offered at all!). Also thanks for sharing the seperate pencils, I think those are really interesting to look at for a chiaroscuro heavy page like this, makes me want to go look at the final published one as well.

This was a highly acclaimed run on Daredevil and the Riveras play with the lighting and darkness to keep us guessing on depth and how close are those teeth to Daredevil?
