DescriptionThis is the original cover art for Archie Andrews Where Are You No. 31 by Dan DeCarlo enhanced by an overlay of the various cover logos and marks created Chris Ivy. You can see a cover scan below in the "Additional Images" section.I've looked at a number of pieces by Dan over the years, but this one really caught my eye because it featured so many of the classic characters. It's not a DeCarlo B&V cheesecake shot, but... I like it because it captures the characters personalities so clearly. Enjoy. Outside the central box, from upper left in a clockwise direction, we have:
Because the art is the cover to a digest,.the top part of the page was blank except for some instructions to alter the dialog. I wondered how I'd get it framed until I remembered Chris Ivy's work for Michael Finn's One Minute Later series. For Michael, Chris makes high quality overlays that easily add the missing pieces. I asked Chris to create an overlay for me which he did in short order based on a scan from MyComicShop.com who sold me a copy of the original comic. P.S., Years ago, I saw a double page splash by Dan DeCarlo featuring everyone from the Archie-verse. It was set in a park with two bands - The Archies and Josie and the Pussycasts - playing on stages. It was wonderful, but I'd spent my stash earlier that week. If you see it for sale, please let me know. :) Here's the image: ![]() P.P.S., This cover idea was originally used on Archie and Me #34. You can see it in the Additional Images section. P.P.P.S., Bary Grossman has color guides from throughout his career and is selling them on eBay or direct. To reach out to him, click here. Social/Sharing |

While checking your page, I found this! Really cool to have so many characters by DeCarlo in one page. That was also my driving motive when I acquired this 1985 cover last year featuring a lot of characters by Archie's most iconic artist.

Nice to see I'm not the only fan of the "Archieverse" here on the CAF... Love DeCarlo's work. I'll have to scan and upload an Archie gallery this summer. Congrats!

What year was this from? Lovely piece. I actually prefer the pieces where everyone is fully clothed.
