DescriptionIn his prime, Marshall Rogers worked on three characters, Batman, Mister Miracle and Dr. Strange. The last Dr. Strange story he drew appeared in Marvel Fanfare Number 5, which was at that time, a book that showcased premier artists and popular characters. In this page, inked by the inimitable P. Craig Russell, Dr. Strange battles Nicodemus with two splashy high graphic panels that were Marshall's signature. In the bottom panel, Rogers and Russell used red ink to create an effect that would reproduce in gray - a nice example of pushing the envelope in the comics field. To me, this page bookends nicely the page that I have from Rogers' first major work in Detective. Special thanks to the great original comics art dealer -- and helluva nice guy -- Anthony Snyder, a celebrity in his own right, for a tremendous transaction on this page.Social/Sharing |

I'm a huge fan of Marshall's work, and this page is a great example why. Fabulous story telling by a true master of the craft

I loved Marshall Roger's run on Doctor Strange! This page is great example of Rogers' tremendous talent for drawing the title. It starts with that first jaw-dropping panel of Strange getting blasted by a magical spell from Nicodemus. Then we see Strange laying on the floor, clearly wasted by the evil sorceror's spell, then recouping momentarily to save the small child in the room. Then we get the final incredible panel with Strange's astral self slipping out of the room and escaping into a mysterious alternative dimension. And that's just one page of the story! Rogers had a real gift for drawing the mystical scenes that make Doctor Strange such an interesting comic. Spectacular pick-up, congrats!
