Description

Hulk Smash #1, page 20. Pencils by John McCrea, inks by Klaus Janson and story by Garth Ennis. This is the PUBLISHED drawn/inked version of this page. As you can see in the next gallery entry, the Hulk at the top was re-inked. The original version is much darker and a bit more consistant with the inking on the Hulk in the rest of the book. There is a "STAT" on top of the original work, though "STAT" is probably not the correct word. The drawing on the top "STAT" is still original, not a typical STAT copy. The artwork is just done on a piece of paper that was affixed on top of the original. If you compare the two, this published version is much "lighter" in the inking and I don't know this for sure, but I believe it was probably done to help the colorist. The Hulk in this page is on FIRE and I think the lighter inking was done to help with the fire coloring. Again, I don't know that for sure, but I would make sence to me. Either way, great Hulk page!
