Description

A truly great piece from Mitch. Based on a Wizard cover by George Perez it's the three great Japanese heroes that I remember from my childhood - Ultraman, Spectreman and Jet Jaguar. Most folks will probably know Ultraman but may not know Spectreman, a knock off who appeared in the 70's, or Jet Jaguar who is Godzilla's version of Ultraman. Have to be honest and say that Spectreman is my hand's down fav with Jet Jaguar having the best overall design. A beautiful piece from Mitch - I mean, look at the insane amount of detail in the background. Original size 11x17

Mitch did a fine job. It reminds me of the "tokusatsu" special effects exhibition I went to recently at a prefectural museum near my home in Japan and it was fun seeing, amongst other things, all the different Ultraman models (for the flying sequences and the like), Science Patrol vehicles, design art, etc. There was also a rather large original Jet Jaguar flying scene model and one of the original Spectreman masks (amongst thousands of other items). You (obviously) would have loved it and I hope the exhibition makes its way across the pond one of these years so my fellow "gaikoku-jin otaku" can enjoy seeing it.

Awesome! Speectreman was very popular among Brazilian children during the 1980s. I would like to see you sharing a drawing of Ultraseven. In my country, Brazil, Ultraseven was more popular than Ultraman. Cheers!
