Description

I've long enjoyed Mel Keefer's work, and have found him to be vastly under appreciated. Keefer's understanding of black & white was often masterful, as he created a great deal of drama with his high contrast images. But Keefer's pen work was also quite strong, with strong brush work and richly layered cross-hatching. The pen work created a strong bridge to the high contrast imagery, softening that transition just a bit.

This page is from He-Man comics #1, published by Toby in 1954. The page is from the story "Mr. Flatfoot", about Frank Hodges, a real police officer. Beautiful work.
