Smurfette was a creation by Gargamel, which for many goes some way to explaining her initially unattractive physical appearance in addition to her psychological fragility. Her arrival in the Smurf community was first met with curiosity, followed by annoyance and soon even mistrust from the entire community.
Smurfette is very touching and we eventually harbour a great deal of sympathy towards her. . Rejected by the entire community, she would eventually accept to undergo �aesthetic surgery� which was conducted expertly by Papa Smurf. Whilst Gargamel failed in his plan, Papa Smurf, without having done so on purpose, spreads division and disagreement through the Smurf village by this radical transformation; which was the ultimate goal of Gargamel. All of the Smurfs fall in love with Smurfette instantaneously.
This strip wonderfully illustrates the origins of these newfound emotions and feelings within the Smurf community, namely romance, love or feelings of love, seduction, desire to please, shyness, jealousy and even sadness due to failure or rejection. At this precise moment in their history, the Smurfs would show themselves
to be true males, as well as romantics and sentimentalists, wonderfully controlling the most traditionalist rules of seduction, from offering bouquets of flowers to moments under the sunset. Even Brainy Smurf would offer a bouquet of flowers to Smurfette!
Humour is illustrated here as the entire Smurf community simultaneously falls in love with the same individual. As for the Smurfette, she embodies the spectrum of human flaws through the role as belonging to the fairer sex, as shown
when she fails to hide her dismay when she sees Brainy Smurf offer her a bouquet of flowers behind her back! The final panel majestically, and rather poetically, shows the future disagreement and division.

La Schtroumpfette est � l�origine une cr�ation de Gargamel, expliquant pour beaucoup tant son aspect physique initialement peu s�duisant que sa fragilit� psychologique. Son arriv�e parmi les Schtroumpfs suscite d�abord la curiosit�, puis l�agacement et bient�t m�me la m�chancet� de l�ensemble de la communaut�.
La Schtroumpfette est alors touchante et attire notre sympathie. Rejet�e par toute la communaut�, elle finira par accepter une op�ration de � chirurgie esth�tique � men�e avec brio par le Grand Schtroumpf. Si Gargamel a �chou� dans son projet, le Grand Schtroumpf, sans le faire expr�s, am�ne par cette transformation radicale la discorde et la division au sein du village Schtroumpf ; celleci m�me que souhaitait provoquer Gargamel. En effet, tous les Schtroumpfs tombent simultan�ment amoureux de la nouvelle Schtroumpfette. Cette planche illustre � merveille la naissance de tous ces sentiments et �tats nouveaux pour les Schtroumpfs, que sont notamment le romantisme, l�amour ou les sentiments amoureux, la s�duction ou le d�sir de plaire, la timidit�, la jalousie ou encore la tristesse li�e � l��chec et au rejet. Les Schtroumpfs vont � ce moment pr�cis de leur histoire se r�v�ler �tre de vrais petits m�les mais �galement de grands romantiques et sentimentaux, ma�trisant avec brio les codes les plus traditionnels de la s�duction, du bouquet de fleurs au coucher de soleil. M�me le Schtroumpf � Lunettes offrira un bouquet � la Schtroumpfette ! L�humour est ici exacerb� par le fait que la communaut� enti�re tombe simultan�ment amoureuse de la m�me personne. La Schtroumpfette, elle, concentre tous les d�fauts et travers de la gent f�minine, jusque dans l�effroi qu�elle ne peut dissimuler quand elle voit le Schtroumpf � Lunettes venant vers elle un bouquet dans le dos ! La case finale annonce magistralement et po�tiquement la discorde et la division � venir.
