Estimate : 5 000 - 8 000 € New Year resolutions and wishes are a constant and obligatory theme for all comic strip authors publishing in newspapers. All the greats have tried their hand at these, with Hergé’s illustrations being some of the most renowned on this subject. What we can see here is not so much an illustration, but rather a hugely original gag. Expressing New Year wishes through a cat was a tremendous feat, and one which Peyo managed with brio and extraordinary finesse. The panels are wonderfully designed, the illustration is supple, the contrasts between black and white are accentuated by blue pencil and white gouache. Estimation : 5 000 - 8 000 € Les souhaits de nouvel an sont un passage obligé pour tous les auteurs de bandes dessinées publiant dans des journaux. Tous s’y sont rodés, les illustrations les plus célèbres en la matière étant celles d’Hergé. Ici, il ne s’agit pas d’une illustration mais d’un gag d’une très grande originalité. Faire exprimer des souhaits de nouvel an par un chat était une gageure, Peyo s’en sort avec brio et une immense finesse. Les cases sont parfaitement construites, le dessin est souple, les contrastes du noir et blanc sont ici accentués par le crayon bleu et la gouache blanche. Social/Sharing |
