Encre de Chine pour la planche 3 de cette histoire, troisi�me histoire de l�album � Les Schtroumpfs Noirs �, 1er album de la s�rie, publi� en 1963 aux �ditions Dupuis.

Cette histoire fut d�abord publi�e dans le journal Spirou n�1130 en 1959 sous la forme d�un mini-r�cit puis redessin�e en 1962 pour la publication en album Dupuis, comme seconde histoire de l�album Les Schtroumpfs Noirs. Ce court r�cit marque la premi�re apparition du sorcier Gargamel et de son c�l�bre chat Azra�l. Il s�agit ici de la seconde planche avec Gargamel et de sa toute premi�re confrontation avec les Schtroumpfs. C�est un passage historique o� le Schtroumpf � Lunettes est �galement repr�sent� pour la premi�re fois, avant m�me son r�le important dans Le Schtroumpfissime. Les Schtroumpfs jusqu�alors n�avaient eu � faire face qu�� un seul ennemi humain, Monulf, ils devront d�s lors compter avec Gargamel. De la m�me mani�re que pour Les Schtroumpfs Noirs, il est vraisemblable que le dessinateur Francis ait particip� � l�encrage de ces planches pour le d�cor et le lettrage.

This story was first published in Spirou number 1130 in 1959, in the form of a short story. It was once more published in 1962 for the Dupuis album publication in the following year, as the second story in the album named The Black Smurfs. This story represents the very first appearance of the wizard Gargamel and his infamous cat Azrael. This is the second strip showing Gargamel and his very first encounter with the Smurfs. It is a quite historic passage where Brainy Smurf additionally appears for the first time, even before his important role in The King Smurf. Until this time, the Smurfs had only ever had to face one human enemy, Monulf, and would now have another in the shape of Gargamel. In the same manner as in The Black Smurfs, it is likely that the illustrator Francis was involved in the surroundings and words in these panels.
