Encre de Chine pour la planche 15 de cet album, 2ème album de la série, publié en 1965 aux éditions Dupuis. Signée à l’encre de Chine.
Prépubliée dans le journal Spirou n°1389 en 1964.
Format : 43,5 x 32 cm. Encadrée.

Probablement l’une des planches les plus emblématiques de cet album, marquée par la grande case représentant le palais du Schtroumpfissime et par l’arrivée du Schtroumpfissime avec couronne, sceptre et cape d’hermine. La tournure en dérision du pouvoir autocratique est d’une immense finesse, jusque dans les applaudissements du Schtroumpf à Lunettes. Il s’agit d’une des seules fables à connotation politique de toute l’oeuvre de Peyo, avec Schtroumpf Vert et Vert Schtroumpf. Le Schtroumpfissime est également un des albums charnières des Schtroumpfs puisqu’il s’agit de la première grande aventure en 40 planches de cette communauté. Peyo a pour cette occasion été aidé par Claude de Ribaupierre dit Derib, le futur dessinateur de Buddy Longway et Yakari. Derib ne participera sur cet album qu’à l’encrage et aux décors.

This is probably one of the most emblematic strips from this album, as demonstrated by the large panel representing the palace of the King Smurf and the arrival of King Smurf with a crown, sceptre and ermine cape. The derisory play on autocratic power is wonderfully illustrated, even down to the applause of Brainy Smurf. This is one of the only tales with political connotations from all of Peyo’s body of work, along with Smurf versus Smurf. The King Smurf is also one of the pivotal Smurf albums since it was the first 40 strip adventure of the community. For this album, Peyo was assisted by Claude de Ribaupierre known as Derib, the future illustrator of Buddy Longway and Yakari. Derib would only participate in layout and decor for this album.
