Description

Amazing black and white drawing by José Luis Salinas made in New York in 1950. It probably belongs to the time he was working in the production offices of the King Features Syndicate. In an interview from the 80's made by Juan Sasturain, Salinas said that he went to USA in November 1949 and "me destinaron al departamento donde hacían los pegotes, las adaptaciones de las tiras originales para las demás revistas. Recortaba, pegaba, completaba dibujos. Tareas de un principiante. (...) Yo, en mis momentos libres, dibujaba. Los muchachos que estaban en el departamento de arte, especialmente el jefe, agarraban los dibujos y los llevaban adentro, al editor, uno de los tantos capos: Silvain Byck. Así, luego de dos o tres meses de hacer ese trabajo me llegó de pronto la indicación de que debía crear al Cisco Kid..."
The art is framed and dedicated by Salinas in the back.
