Readers of 1990s Marvel Comics will know the name John Heebink from titles such as Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD and Quasar. My experience dealing with John on this commission was top notch. He sent regular email updates and made sure I was happy with the final drawing. John has his own gallery right here on CAF if you want to contact him. I recommend that you do.

Like a lot of comic books, the cover to Quasar 40 is a little misleading. Yes, Quasar does battle with a large spherical void. And, yes, Wolverine, Captain America and the Thing do appear in the comic... but only just barely. At the end of the day, a team up is still a team up. I would be shirking my duties by not enshrining this story in a new commission as part of my "Thing and..." theme.

As an aside, I sure am glad we are past those dark times when Marvel would put Wolverine on every comic just to sell a few extra copies.

As you will note, I asked John to replace Wolverine and Captain America with characters who play a more prominent role in the published story - namely Thanos and "Her" of Adam Warlock fame.

Proof positive that you don't have to have big-name artists to get big-quality work. An outstanding effort by both Heebink and Hazlewood.

Thanks for the kind commentary, guys. Doug did do a great job. I especially like what he brought to Her hair, Thanos' eyes, the rendition of space and planets. JH
