Description"Like the endgame of a chess match, the pieces are disappearing." For me, this remains one of the most memorable lines in the history of 2000AD. Here, the fight against Protoid begins in earnest, as Mac and De Racine team up to save Kano from the machinations of the polymorphous predator (and true villain of Bad Company II.) 'The Short and Happy Life of De Racine' is probably my favourite single episode of any comic series (it certainly culminates in what is definitely my favourite single page of any comic.) De Racine's ridiculous self-customisations take centre stage over the next few pages - but can his own artificial body-mods get the better of a creature who can naturally modify himself to an infinite degree?(The answer is, of course, no.)
