Featured Artist — Coll, Joseph Clement

Joseph Clement Coll was one of the finest pen and artists to ever live. Period. I think of him as the anti-Franklin Booth (another who fits in the “finest” category). Unlike Booth, who drew with tight, etch-like lines, Coll was free flowing. His art is full of movement and spontaneity - like the impressionists who were working when Coll was in his prime. Coll actually did some early comic strip work, but is mainly known for his book and magazine illustrations. He died young, but left a legacy that has influenced basically every major pen and ink artist since.
