Aliens 3-D Theme Park Attraction

In late 1996, following the incredible success of T2/3D at Universal Studios, Samsung’s EVERLAND theme park in Korea engaged Gary Goddard and team to create the next generation of 3D attraction. Based on the 1986 James Cameron film, the attraction would have continued where T2/3D left off, pushing the boundaries of integration between live performance and 3D film. The resulting concept was ALIENS 3D- a multi-screen spectacular based upon the classic franchise. John Sergio Fisher & Associates (JSFA) were the foreign architect and theatre consultant for this landmark entertainment group project design and production of a six camera, three screen 3-d movie in conjunction with live actors, which is housed in a 500 seat themed theater with continental seating, clad in stainless steel and copper with structural, mechanical and electrical elements exposed inside and outside to relate to the theme. At the climactic conclusion of the 12 minute show, the seating drops 5 millimeters on hydraulic jacks. With a deal in place with Fox, the attraction was designed, announced, and scheduled to move into production when the Korean financial crisis hit in 1997. The project was put on hold for 90 days and ultimately cancelled, remaining to this day one of the greatest never-realized attractions of theme park lore.
