JOHN LIDLEY BYRNE Walsall, Inglaterra (6 de julio de 1950) Controversial and essentially superheroic author, John Lidley Byrne was born on July 6, 1950 in Walsall (England). Since 1975 and after his professional debut at the Charlton publishing house, he has played a decisive role in updating the main pillars of the House of Ideas, be it the X-Patrol, the Fantastic Four (for whom he did his most memorable work), Spiderman, the Hulk, the Avengers, Iron Man, Namor or Hulka. He also created the supergroup Alpha Flight, whose series he wrote for two years. In the mid-eighties, his marvelization of Superman for DC earned him the criticism of the most purist fans. In Dark Horse he published Next Men, his last great work and the most personal of all. In the nineties, already in decline, he wrote and drew Wonder Woman and The Fourth World. In 1998, a miniseries recounting the origin of Spider-Man seems to evidence his artistic demise. However, Byrne surprises again, both in Marvel (X-Men: The Hidden Years) and DC (Superman / Batman: Generations).
