Excellent page from a memorable run!

-BEAUTIFUL- spread, Brian!  As compelling as the foreground figures are (dripping with gorgeous details and pitch-perfect in-character acting... and THOSE WINGS!  Oh, my goodness those wings!!), it's actually the backgrounds that knock me out. Those trees on the left and mountains on the right... They add an incredible sense of balance and depth to the image.  Sensational!  (And is that a Fanfare watermark in the upper left?  Fantastic! :) ).

Hi Jason - Without a doubt, I agree on all those points wholeheartedly. It's nothing short of a stunning 2-pager. Yep - Fanfare ended up with a lot (all?) of the art from this series and all of the pages I got were from them (K'zoo is a couple of hours away from me, and it was SO tempting to bug out there). They had nice scans... so I just posted them. You actually previously commented on that awesome vertical slices layout used in issue 4, page 3, which is still one of my all-time favorite designs for a page. 

Too, TOO cool, sir!  Nothing but love for Fanfare (R.I.P.) here, too!  I picked up a few (but not enough :) ) pages from them myself, but I'm glad to hear you actually were able to see these all in-person there.  Gadzooks!  My brain would have shut down, had I been so lucky.... :)  And you'd better believe I remember your vertical layout page!  Still one of my favorites, too! :) Congrats again on your INCREDIBLE collection, Brian!

You think seeing that kind of stuff is a rush? Back in the day (way, way back in the pre-internet days), a lovely and kind person named Mark Cohen (strip/MAD writer by night and real estate agent by day) was a trusted friend of a few key strip artists (starting with Sparky Schulz, because they both lived in Santa Rosa) and he ended up getting the idea to rep a few hundred strip artists who wanted nothing to do with the bother of selling/dealing with the public, esp. when it was the long and bothersome US mail and sending checks and so on. I got to know Mark and visited his office a few times ... leafing through PILES of Peanuts strips and Nemo pages, Golden Age stuff, that was lying about. I got some things... but the refrain is well known: "If I had had more money...". He did take me to meet Schulz once at the Snoopy ice rink, where I was treated to lunch and proceeded to make garbled fanboy conversation, asking every fracking question he must have answered a thousand times or more. 

HA!  That is -AMAZING-!  Thanks for sharing that, Brian; that sounds like an incredible experience!

What a great DPS. It's got everything, the full team, a beautifully detailed background, and those wings!
