The two covers I always think about the most in regards to the original are what DC would have done (which Joao has done better here than I ever could have imagined) and what if Zeck did a version B of the cover with the exact same composition but with the serie's villains instead of heroes.

The amount of detail he put into both the Earth and the flames is just crazy.

I love Mike Zeck. He's on my personal Mt. Rushmore of comic artists. But I have to say Joao's version is superior in every way. Joao's version looks like something we should all be buying from comic stores right now.

My one tiny complaint with it is the five panels on the left side and only four on the right. Seems like they should have found a way to create perfect symmetry between the two sides.

Yeah, I've seen a bunch of the color guides recently but they always seem to be for C or D-level characters like this. Can never seem to find the color guides for the A and B-level characters that have had the pencils and inks come up for sale.

The detail on Tan's cross hatching and also the weight he gives it is just amazing.

The main thing I like about this page is that very composition. If it were up to me Doomsday would be the focus, but that's not as important as the great layout Benes achieved.

I wasn't familiar with it until I saw this piece but now I wholeheartedly agree. Hulking, bulky Venom is the ideal Venom for sure.

The cover was a classic Sam Keith piece, but if it had been done in the day of numerous alternate covers this would have been perfect for one.
