Garcia Lopez Deadman Owner: Phillip Hester Comment posted on 8/4/2018 Another page I used to own. Can't remember the selling price but paid $50 for it but stuff was so cheap in the 20th century before the internet, ebay and auction housed 'ruined' things. |

Kona T-REX vs Kitten! Owner: George Hagenauer Comment posted on 8/13/2016 And the thing is even though they had giant monsters on the island Kona got off the island and the writers came up with other reasons/stories to have giant things in them. OH, and this is the "best" issue in the run. |

George Tuska - Avengers #48 p.8 Owner: Paul Handler Comment posted on 3/20/2016 I love this issue. I don't see many others fans of Tuska inking himself (although I really love Craig's inks on the Archie Goodwin Iron Mans) but this is a cool page from one my 1st Avengers. And I also love The Black Knight, although he's probably the most impractical member -- he just looks so cool. |

Don Heck - Tales of Suspense #45 p.15 (7th Iron Man, Origin Jack Frost) Owner: Paul Handler Comment posted on 3/20/2016 Man I love these all Heck pages. And even with Pepper looking totally different she stills looks pretty swell. I can only dream of getting a page like this. |

Kevin O'Neill Nemesis Owner: Phillip Hester Comment posted on 10/10/2015 And it was Andy Helfer (I think) who said he was glad he met Kevin before seeing his art because he would have been terrified. From all accounts he's a puppy dog but that is often how it is with the most messed up artist. Their art is a release for all of the badness which is why this was the perfect strip for him to illustrate. |

Great minds think alike! ![]() Except one has the wherewithal to hold onto more stuff (or at least not as strapped for cash). I paid $19 for it & it arrived a few days before the con. The guy who bought it was looking through my art pile and it was on the bottom. He asked how much and remembering Philip Weiss' estimate was $70-$100, I said $70 and he snapped it up. I should have said a $100. The thing is the consignor was at the con, presumably local. I think it was for some Tarzan text story but could be wrong. |

Arnold Drake Doom Patrol Cover Rough Owner: Phillip Hester Comment posted on 10/8/2015 This is freaking great. I have an ink sketch of Deadman I got from Arnold in San Diego. He used an everyday ink pen and kind of dug it into the pen and it's crude as hell but he's the creator (or maybe co-creator. I can't remember when Carmine got involved....but I imagine Arnold had the outfit pretty much designed beforehand.) |

Frank Robbins - Fear #27 p.32 Owner: Paul Handler Comment posted on 3/9/2014 This looks a lot better than most of Robbins Marvel work so I went over to the GCD to see who inked it. Gerber's Man-Thing run was lucky to have such a breadth of artists. From Neal Adams to Ploog to Buscema and even Mooney -- and the reason they all worked on the character was (I think) Gerber. He knew how to write for the Marvel House Style in such a way that it was disturbing and subversive. Of course he gave John a barbarian to draw. ![]() Yeah, the only reason I think this page went for so much on ebay is that big panel with the Viking and he is kind of like a really old Conan to some fans. |

Johnny Hazard 7-3 1970 Owner: Jep Soto Comment posted on 2/20/2014 The drawing can be a bit cartoony at times with Robbins (the bad guys in the last panel, the bald headed one has something about him that makes me think of "Reid Fleming, World's Toughest Milkman") bit his brushwork is so masterful that it doesn't matter. By this time he was reputedly drawing with his brush without any pencils beforehand. |

DAREDEVIL 232 (1986) Owner: Lorenzo Fratini Comment posted on 2/1/2014 I don't agree that it should have been the last DD story but its changes should have remained the new status quo. He's DD, he has some powers and he lives in Hell's Kitchen. The story showed the folly of a lawyer being the alter ego of a super-hero. |

Superman vs. Muhammad Ali, page 55 Owner: Ron S Comment posted on 6/11/2013 This is what I consider Adams' last great work. I bought like 20 copies of it and when I started selling the extras off I priced them way above guide because I just thought it was worth more than it said. It didn't sell well reportedly because Ali lost the title before it came out but I'm not a sports fan and didn't know that at the time or obviously care. |

Stan Drake Juliet Jones 1958 daily Owner: JAUME VAQUER MESTRE Comment posted on 5/4/2013 It's great to see so many early Juliet Jones in your collection (would be better if they were in mine...). What I like about the early ones is Drake would try out different techniques and the results were, even when 'not perfect', interesting. In this one my favorite thing is the chair in the first panel. And, I have a daily from this storyline from the next month. |

Thor #170, page 14 Owner: Sean Clarke Comment posted on 1/19/2013 I love Everett's inks but what's interesting here is his restraint, the lack of his characteristic flourishes. They can be seen in their other collaborations but here he is truely trying more to serve Kirby than embellish. The middle section is my favorite. Panel two is just great and in #3 is especially nice in that while the eyes are just way too far apart Everett doesn't alter them because it works, because Kirby defies logic and reality. When you look at the close-up it almost looks abstract, especially her left eye. Superb. |

Meskin, Mort The Dummy Owner: Brian M Comment posted on 8/18/2012 Meskin is perhaps the best 'forgotten' artist among fandom. Hell, I wasn't aware of his stuff until I started buying GA. My favorite are those great high contrast, no rendering Vigilante and Johnny Quick stories he did in the early to mid '40s. The Dummy was the villain in a few of those (and his 1st appearance in Leading Comics is pretty sweet) and this piece is Meskin at his best. Bold and graphic. |

Kaluta - Spawn of Frankenstein from PS 25 Owner: Mark Levy Comment posted on 8/3/2012 I've only seen two other pages, both at the last pre-Wizard Chicago Comicon and I bought the better of the two. Kaluta's version of the creature is actually my favorite version. I like it even better than Wrightson's. Good pickup. |

Kevin Nowlan - Batgirl Owner: Malcolm Bourne Comment posted on 7/21/2012 Once again proving that Batgirl's costume is better than Batman's. (The shorts ruin the flow. That's why George Pratt often portrays him hunched over). This is an exquisite piece though. DC should just have Kevin do a stand alone Batgirl story. |

I think it came from Heritage, Greg, so it's been around! ![]() As has all of the art I foolishly sold (and the current owners paying roughly 10 times what I did when I first sold it a decade or two back). I think this is maybe the 3rd piece you own that I used to have though. |

Jesse Marsh Cavemen Owner: Phillip Hester Comment posted on 7/8/2012 So you either bought this from me or from someone who bought it off me at a Kansas City ComiCon sometime in the '90s. I had bought it in one of Philip Weiss's (now seen on The Antiques Roadshow) phone in auctions that would go on until no one bid for 15 minutes. I lost a lot of sleep but got some great deal on art back then. |

Kevin O'Neill Nemesis Owner: Phillip Hester Comment posted on 7/8/2012 It could practically be an outtake from that Green Lantern Annual story. If only the toy line that was doing the 2000 A.D. figures years ago hadn't stopped putting them out before they got to Nemesis. I wanted one just because O'Neill said if you did action figures of his characters you would cut yourself every time you touched it because they were all angles. |
