H.A.R.M. Trading Card Art Owner: Norman Felchle Comment posted on 9/20/2016
Eric Callen said:
ANOTHER one!!? Sweet!! ![]() Thanks again. There was a guy at Wildstorm who was going to buy this off me way back when....but...I think the card got lost in the art return shuffle and didn't show up until later...and then I never got back to the guy (who's name I've now forgotten). I think it all worked out fine though. I got the compliment and confidence boost from his wanting to buy it...and, I still have the card (the money would have been long gone in a second...wasted on something pointless, like....food or car insurance....) |

Batman/Grendel #1 p 44 Owner: Brian Coppola Comment posted on 9/18/2016 Ha...my memory is ok...but not 100%. I pasted up a lot of word balloons on this book...but...probably not this exact page. Batman/Grendel #1 p 44 Owner: Brian Coppola Comment posted on 9/18/2016 Oh my! I remember "working" on these pages. Matt lived in San Jose briefly and let me do word balloon paste-ups on this book for a little extra money (I was drawing independent comics for not much money at the time) . The real pay-off, though, was just getting to go to his house and hang out and listen to him talk about art and comics. Good times..... |

Great page, excellent storytelling and wonderful ink rendering. RubenY style looks like something in between Alex Nino and Nestor Redondo. That middle borderless panel has a wonderful illustrative quality. ![]() Yeah, he really put some thought into that panel...from the tree that goes up from the middle panel to also be a part of the panel above...to the gnarled tree that goes past the couple to lead your eye right to the guy with the knife. |

captain marvel variante edition colors ??? Owner: Red Raven Comment posted on 8/30/2016 I'm not sure where or how this was used, but it looks like the black and white line work was inverted , or a negative, where black is white and white is black. Other than that, the actual colors seem to be the same as the regular printed version. |

Brent Anderson Astro City Sketch Owner: Norman Felchle Comment posted on 7/2/2016 Oh yeah. A wonderful sketch. I actually felt guilty about getting this one because back when I was the chairman for the local chapter of the National Cartoonist's Society we'd have artists donate art for raffles to raise money for the chapter. Brent donated this and I bought a couple tickets....and I wound up winning it. Since I set up the raffle ...maybe I should have let someone else have it....but...I did buy my tickets fair and square.....and it's such a nice piece..... |

and just to rub a little more salt in the wound: it's probably worth even more today than the $11k it sold for ![]() Ha....yeah. I guess the lesson learned is if you're a person with a normal income (where you can't just buy and sell stuff like this every day), and you find yourself fortunate enough to wind up with something like this, you have to almost ignore the dollar value and just take good care of it and enjoy it. Until your kids start college, I suppose..... |
