Man, with such beautifully executed detail on those background buildings - and having them all lined up in a row like that, so nicely! - the city planners have to know they're just -inviting- trouble in the form of some kind of kaiju throwdown...  And this is, of course, the grand-daddy of them all (even the UFO had to pull up a ringside seat).  Godzilla fight posters are a great idea, and I'll definitely keep my eye out for more of them...  If they turn out as cool as this one, the search will be well-rewarded!  Great pick up, Doc!  Congrats!  

Godzilla's got home advantage with Mt. Fuji in the background!  The cityscape is give oppotunity for even higher effort in detail to create the foreground. 

Love the depiction of the monsters!  Love the depiction of the buildings!  Hoping the owners of those buildings are insured and the residents have evacuated!

Wow - this is absolutely something I need to know more about.  I'd be all-in just from your description (a honey pot escape from a stomach prison? Uh, yes please...), but the art is fantastic here!  You nailed it when you called out their ability to make everything so awesomely -alien- , and I especially love the alien dialogue word balloons in panels 4 and 5.  A really fun example!  I need to check it out!

A bold and dynamic Clay Mann piece, for sure!  I really like how the focus pulls inwards to the center of the page as the viewer's eye moves down it, first in that beautiful second panel, and then to that very striking third panel.  Really lovely Clay and Jay page, Doctor!  Congrats!

Ooh - this is great.  The impact of panel 3 is nothing short of striking, and panel 4's deliberate lack of background detail makes sure that panel 3 sticks with the reader.  Really, really cool work and a fantastic present!  A two-fer! :) Congrats, Doc!

Yeah, that is indeed a fun page with some GORGEOUS inking!  T-shirts, characters, airborne Jeep...  I've never read this, but it certainly looks like you've gotten a solid piece of a fun moment! :)  Congrats, Doc!

Well, the helmet appears to have been constructed to make it look like Attuma's head is inside a monster's mouth and he also had Abomination ears. What is all that supposed to signify though? I'll tell you. I'll tell you that I don't have even the most remote idea that would allow me to even hazard a guess! All I know is that in the hands a of a great artist (and I've spoken on this topic before), even silly loking costume designs can somehow appear to look pretty f#@!%4 cool, as we see here! Carry on, my wayward son....

Yeah!  Great pick up, Doc!  This work of Salvador's, with the pencils, inks, and greys, is really special and you have a fantastic example of his strong sense of layout and storytelling here.  Love the Colossus in the top panel.  Very nice grab, Doc!  Congrats!

Another superb piece, Doc!  Mike's black and white art is truly a wonder to behold; the rich shading and tones along with uncannily character accurate facial expressions make you forget all about any potential colored version...  Gorgeous work.  It also tickles me that the scientific gizmo (or is it a doo-dad?) that Hank is buckled into in that first (beautiful!) panel resembles a big microscope... which makes him look like Ant-Man, even at normal size.  Love it!  Another brilliant name to cross off the list of your inspiring collecting goal, sir!  Mega congrats!!

I love seeing Mayhew's black and white art.  His work with facial expressions is truly excellent.

Really cool with how Hank works with giant equipment!  This microverse story brought back a founding member of the Avengers.  Mayhew does a great tonal job for the faces as Hank seems annoyed, while Tony is upbeat as ever.

The biggest thing I can take away from this is the irony that the guy who pointed you towards art that you wanted to add to your collection goes my the moniker "Doctor Fantastic ". The next biggest thing I take away from seeing this, aside from the fact that it is quite nice, is what you mentioned about the artist's process. I imagine drawing 2 story pages on a single board has to do with drawing smaller in order to more easily meet deadlines. But why he would draw two non-consecutive story pages on the same board? That is a curious mystery! I'm intrigued....

I like all the different armors swarming out!  The transformation gives me some SD-F1 vibes.  Those thick inks by Reinhold look incredible with how much control it tookto not mess up on the buildings and how the hand is shown.  

Right there with you, Doc!  'Ultimate Spider-Man' was a joy, plain and simple, and the tales including Peter's and Kitty's courtship were a constant source of delight.  What a great team shot of Spidey and the X-Women up top there, Doc!  Delightful Bendis/Bagley/Thibert Spidey goodness...  Congrats!

Pretty cool to translate the page from a vertical tracking shot in a movie.  The panel breaks slow down the speed that the camera moves downward.  Palmer uses the comic page medium to his storytelling advantage.

The two top panels make for a wonderful pair that visually rhyme.  The third panel immediately rips the camera behind the trio while they are still in the same pose.  All three make the page a clever work of storytelling.

BEAUTIFUL page, Doc!  Man - look at that storytelling on display...  Gadzooks!  This may surprise you, but you and I have a similar affection for Earth X :) .  I remember really enjoying the first couple issues (and thinking I had a good idea of how the story was going to ultimately unfold), and then feeling the rug being pulled out from underneath me as everything spun off-course more and more with each subsequent issue.  It was AWESOME. :)  I DESPERATELY love that second panel, with the volley of armors being used as a combination of missle and infantry. Beautiful black and white storytelling here - incredible.  Congrats on such a wonderful present (your family has DYNAMITE taste! :) ) and happy birthday, Doc!!
