Glad you like it. The painting that Steve on these color covers really brought the art to life. It differentiated them from a lot of the other B&W books that were being published at the time.

Neat idea. Given Zeck's classic portrayal of Deathlok on Cap #286, it would be interesting to see Mike do a recreation of this as well. Too bad he stopped doing recreations/re-interpretations about 10 years ago.

Have you checked the L. Moffat book? It has a mostly complete archives of everything that Rockwell ever did. The man looks very Rockwell and somewhat familiar, but not sure. You could also ask the guys at Illustration House for some help.

Even though these pages have now been out for a little while, you managed to pick up a really nice example with a good balance of mood setting and action with two of the major characters. You have excerpts of the 3rd cover with Spidey in the tunnel in the first panel and the cover scene from part 6 at the bottom. It's like having two covers in one!

Yes, this appears to be a recreation of the rejected cover that Beck did for the back cover to G.I. Joe #8. The original was abandoned in detailed pencil form. Beck told me that Hasbro rejected this version because the angle of the Baroness' hips was too suggestive. Poor guy had to completely redraw it. Both look great, but I liked the movement in this version. Nice to see what it would have looked like if it had been finished.

I mentioned to Mike the other day how nice I thought this turned out. Great pose - reminiscent of the splash to Punisher #2, but different and well-suited for DD. Mike did some great covers for DD and still has what it takes to draw the character today!
