The fourth panel is such an abstract shape of black on white background yet you know exactly what is going on. Such iconic figures. The minimal lighting in the third panel gives us the same use of negative space and letting our eyes fill in the missing pieces. Syd Shores does not get enough credit on Colan, probably because Palmer became the gold standard to whom all other Colan inkers are compared.

Who indeed Jeff!Even the second panel, the subtle shadow of hornhead at the fuse box.Syd Shores really did a great job on Gene ,and Gene really looked up to Syd as a mentor as well.
