Brilliant! I love this prelim by Al Willamson! There's so much life in this sketch, I'm reminded of Alex Raymond's work on Flash Gordon with the barechested hero tackling the hideous alien creature! Love the use of pebble paper here--It really emphasizes the texture of the alien creature's skin and it helps make the blast effect more explosive! Al was clearly trying to make this scene as powerful as he could and the effort he put into this prelim shows it. I prefer the sketch to finished panel, there's so much more energy here than in the printed page. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
