DescriptionDetective Comics (Vol. 1) #1000 Variant Cover Original Art (DC, March 2019). Detective 1000 was a massive issue and featured a huge number of variants to celebrate the issue. This is one of 2 variants done by Neal Adams, with this being my favorite, and as far as I am concerned this one is a grail piece and one of the best covers done for this issue period. Neal's style is immediately recognizable, and yet he brings some new things to the table, such as his adjusted take on his classic Batman running pose which I have never seen him do quite in this way. His dynamics are always mind blowing, and it feels as if Batman is about to leap into the air at full speed while Robin desperately tries to keep up. The image is very iconic in its own right and really captures the essence of the Dark Knight, with the rain and lightning behind (though technically the lightning was added later as can be seen in the color guide and final published image). Created in ink over graphite on standard Bristol board, with an image size of 11" X 17". Signed in the lower left corner by Neal.
