I don’t usually write anything here but this piece is special to me. Hal Haney has gained some wider attention due to his Michael Jordan vs. everyone piece that went viral due to many NBA players commenting and retweeting it. (Awesome work, by the way. Check out Hal’s Twitter or Instagram accounts to see it). But the way that I came to know his work was through the wrestling pieces he posted. I was able to get this directly from Hal via an auction he held on his IG account. It was a charity auction to benefit the family of “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton (he’s the third from the left between Paul Heyman and “Stunning” Steve Austin (as he’s best known)) who passed recently. You might’ve seen Bobby wrestle in the 80’s/90’s as a member of the Midnight Express. He was also an accomplished singles wrestler and depicted here during his time as a member of Paul E. Dangerously’s Dangerous Alliance. Bobby was as good as they got in the ring and regarded as one of the nicest guys outside of it.

My winning bid was $605. I chose that amount because I used to watch Bobby and the rest of the stars of NWA/WCW at 6:05, Saturday evenings on TBS. I feel like some people could’ve outbid me but they saw what I was going for with the bid and felt that it was a fitting end to the auction.

RIP Beautiful Bobby and thanks to Hal Haney, great artist and a great guy.
