Description

I had (2) main goals at OAX this year. Goal number 1 was to get a published Gerhard (Check. Check. Check). Goal number 2 was to get a nice inked/finished Bolland (i.e. not a prelim). I knew of one piece that would be there that I was interested in. I also heard of a few other Bollands, but didn’t have details of what they were. The day before the con (or expo) I received information that one of the portfolio plates would be there.

I was familiar with the portfolio plates, because last year I bought Brian Bolland’s personal copy. The portfolio was published in France by Editions-Deesse in 1985. There were 6 plates at an edition size of 666.

Saturday morning, I debated on where to go. I ended up making a beeline to Gerhard’s table, because I thought his pieces might go quick. After that I visited Joseph to see which one of the six it was. When I finally found it in the Itoya I was ecstatic. This is one of my favorites of the bunch. While it might not be for everyone, I was thrilled to add it to my collection.
