John almost broke the internet with this one. The concept, the composition, and the execution are in perfect harmony. Whoever thought that a giant rock could be a major element of an art piece?

The storytelling is superb too - the surfer's body language, the newly created asteroid field, and Galactus' looming presence all contribute beautifully.

I was absolutely thrilled to acquire this piece. John writes the following on his Patreon -

"Here's a concept I've had rolling around in my head for a while. I like the idea of Surfer being a vaguely humanoid bright shape hurtling through space, with the debris of broken worlds being the only thing adding detail to the eternal void. It's tiny, but I think Surfer's remorseful body language says a lot about how he feels about his lot in life. And of course, there's the looming silhouette of Galactus, probably having just feasted on a doomed world.

I think this is a cool idea, and I just wanted to see it for myself to sorta confirm that it actually works as an interesting visual. Most if not all of the detail will be in the play of light and shadow on all the rock faces. That's always fun."

Mission accomplished, John. Amazing.
