I've been holding off posting this for a bit. Will had this available a little while ago and it was one of the pieces of art I had truly regretted missing out on when it went up for auction a number of years ago. I didn't want to miss a second chance at this, even if the price had gone up. So I reached out to Will and we worked things out.

This is the very first appearance page of Jack Monroe. I'd say it's pretty rare to have the opportunity to own the very first appearance page of your favorite character, so definitely appreciate this one on a different level.

Steve Englehart and Sal Buscema "created" the 1950s Captain America and Bucky in this issue to explain the Atlas Comics Young Men, Men's Adventures and Cap issues printed back then (when it was later discovered in Avengers 4 that Cap had been in deep freeze and Bucky was, for all intents and purposes, dead). Back then though of course those issues were written to be the original Cap and Bucky (Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes).
Jack Monroe (who was given that name later in Cap #281 by JM DeMatteis) and William Burnside were created in this issue and story arc.

These two are a couples of pieces of work in this arc, not good guys, but Bucky would later turn it around after going to Cap for help in Captain America #281 and eventually become Nomad in Cap #282 and become Cap's partner for the next 27 or so issues before heading off on his own.

Huge thanks to Will for working with me on this one. A truly important piece of Nomad history for a seriously committed Nomad fan.
