A simple, minimal, yet unforgettable cover from one of the greatest single issues ever published. Barry Windsor-Smith began this tour de force by stripping the issue�s cover down to its barest essentials, creating a now-iconic composition.

Iron Man has long suffered from a shortage of truly great covers�especially in this era�but this striking image stands out as a rare and remarkable exception in the pantheon.

And a prototype for the Windsor-Smith/Layton collaboration that would define Pre-Unity Valiant Comics.

Also of note, many of the stylistic choices and techniques that would later be popularized by Jim Lee and Scott Williams are present.
