DescriptionAll New!One Man Against a Galactic Empire! “Well, Buster, Peter Quill never dies easily--and that goes double for Starlord!” Like the greatest space fantasy adventure film of all-time playing on movie screens across the land that year, a story just as grand had emerged on the racks when the first legendary pairing of Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin & Tom Orzechowski teamed up to produce Marvel Preview (Presents Star-Lord) #11 in the Summer of 1977, and that summer ruled! The B&W magazine was a singular work that would beget the Uncanny X-Men in the form, for many, that would define them. As much as I enjoyed the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, this version is possibly the greatest comicbook movie never produced, and it means a ton to finally find a page from that epic story! On the page: Infiltrating the ruling merchant lord Kyras Shakati’s palace on a floating city of Cinnibar, Starlord, Kip & Sandy were forced into a trap by Shakati’s regenerating Melyan Construct statues, and were experiencing hallucinations within Shakati’s Telempathic Crystal. Lifelike hallucinations based on Kip Hölm’s recent battle with a King Kraken aboard his parent’s outrigger, the Sea Fang. Starlord drives the harpoon deep into the beastie’s eye and brain, but its death throes thrash about the Windhölme sea, and once again Kip is forced to endure the death of his parents!
