Description

The pages where Carmine inked himself are wonky, wild and incredible. And rare. I wish I had been more flush when the last EM page popped up at Heritage but this is only the third they've sold. His work is very design conscious and uses the space very interestingly. This is large art (1964)and so I just took the image from Heritage but it's more of a light cream. I scanned the page for the close-ups, editing them in different ways (wanting the paint to show up in panel 5 for example) and the back of the page just looks a lot better. Sue's posture, the terrain in panel 3 and 6, the cars, the succinct lines of the horse, the bold but cool hats (love the shadow and curve on the left side of Ralph's in panel 4 but why the is stranger's so low in panel 1?) and that Ralph looks 8 ft. tall in panel 5 (but he could do that) -- these are just some of the things I love about this page.
