Description

Some great Marvel milestones are featured on this one: The origin of Iron Man, Odin defeating Surtur, and the FF's 1st encounter with the Puppet Master!

But none these depictions hit quite like the impending lynching of future X-Men, Cyclops and Iceman. While I agree that it's a disturbing image, one needs to remember that Lee & Kirby created mutantkind as a parable for the civil rights movement that was churning in the South at that time. I'm just grateful that, despite all of the insanity going on in the country today, at least we've tried to move on past scenes like this.
