Description14 x 17Thrilled to add this Paul Pope recreation/homage to Jack Kirby's pinup in The Fantastic Four Annual #1. As a major fan of Pope and Kirby, this piece always spoke to me deeply. Once can instantly see that it's Pope doing Kirby but has the amazingly full and beautiful brush strokes in the line that Pope is known for. The face of the Hulk looks like a monstrous Pope character. While I've been selling a lot of my collection, I've come to realize that every Pope piece I've sold has left me feeling deep regret. It's made it all too clear that he is one of those artists that I can't let go of pieces any longer and should continue to add to my new, smaller, more focused collection. Very thankful that the previous owner put this into auction so that I could have this opportunity to add another amazing Pope masterpiece. Social/Sharing |
