DescriptionDuring the early 1980’s “good girl” revival in comics, Will Meugniot (a friend of Dave Stevens) created his Vanity character. Although short lived, his fun art from this series and this character made an impression.I was fortunate to recently obtain this cover, and Will informed me that the word balloons from the cover (see additional photos) were added using a “thin coat of heated wax as the adhesive.” Will said that it was “Less damaging than glue, but also less permanent.” Unfortunately, the paste ups (wax ups?) are now gone. But the beautiful cover image remains. As you can also see from the additional photos, the page was trimmed down. I certainly hope a previous owner didn’t do that. But Will thinks it’s possible it was done in production to create the trade dress wraparound. I think that is likely a correct description of the Pacific Comics production process, as I have seen other covers (Elric) with the same trimming. In any case, I’m super happy to own this.
