Erin Cosgrove

Erin Cosgrove is a Los Angeles-based animator and artist. She has been the subject of solo shows at the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), Printed Matter (New York), and Espace Croise Centre d�art Contemporain (Roubaix, France), and her work has been presented at the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Wexner Center for the Arts (Columbus), and many more. In 2004, she was awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship and in 2008 she received a Creative Capital grant in Film and Video, among many other awards and distinctions. Past work includes her film What Manner of Person Art Thou? (2004-08) which depicts the last two survivors of an ancient religious clan that are transported to contemporary society where they dispense justice from above on evildoers. In 2003, Printed Matter published her book The Baader-Meinhof Affair, a romance novel that explores the nexus between terrorism and true love. Her latest film The Living Book (2021) will be presented virtually during CXC. The film follows survivors of an apocalyptic disaster who must find a new home for their spaceship�s cargo of frozen children as well as cobble together their culture�s history from memory after their database is corrupted.
