Iwao Takamoto

Iwao Takamoto (1925–2007) was a one of the great animated film and television artists of 20th century. A 2nd generation Japanese-American, he grew up in the Los Angeles area during the World War 2 era and joined Disney after the war where he was responsible for designing “the Lady” in Lady and the Tramp. In the 1960’s, he became one of the chief animators at Hanna-Barbera, designing characters such as Scooby-Doo, Astro the Dog, the Great Gazoo, Penelope Pitstop and “the Spider” from Charlotte’s Web. |
