Merwan Chabane

Merwan Chabane, who also signs "Merwan", is a graduate of the National School of Decorative Arts. After going through the Gobelins school, he made his debut in the world of video games and animation, for which he produced storyboards. In 2002, he stood out with his graduation film, "Biotope", a multi-award winning animated short he wrote and directed. Supported by the CNC and Arte, this experience continued with the making of another animated short, "Evening Clich�s", selected for the Cartoon d'or prize in 2009. In 2007, he was contacted to be storyboarder for the feature film "Lascars" (directed by Albert Pereira-Lazaro and Emmanuel Klotz). In 2009, he published "Fausse garde" (West Winds), the exhaustive but reworked version of his first comic, "Pankat". The same year, directed by Fabien Bedouel, he designed the first volume of "L'Or et le Sang" (12bis, then Gl�nat), a saga co-written by Maurin Defrance and Fabien Nury, the last volume of which came out in 2014 In 2010, he started "For the Empire" (Dargaud), a four-handed project with Bastien Viv�s, the third volume of which appeared in 2011. The same year, he wrote a Russian tale, "L'Ourso" (12bis ), drawn by David Alapont, and an initiatory story, "Pistouvi" (Dargaud), illustrated by Bertrand Gatignol. A color version in the Franco-Belgian format, "Jeanne" (Dargaud), saw the light of day in 2012? year also released the first episode of the trilogy "The beloved age" (Dargaud). Full author of this last series, he signed the last episode in 2014. In 2016 he released "Jeu d'ombres" (Gl�nat) with Loulou Dedola, a breathless and uncompromising thriller. In "Heavenly Mechanics" (Dargaud, 2019), Merwan delivers us a jubilant anticipation story that explores the most heroic and meanest faces of major sporting competitions.
