Steve Cuzor

Steve Cuzor was born in Rennes in 1971. After a career as a rodeo cowboy in Texas, he decided to devote himself to his second passion, comics. In 1999, he released Blackjack at Casterman, a four-volume series for which he alone produced the drawings and stories. This was followed by volume 3 of the Quintett series with scriptwriter Frank Giroud at Dupuis publishing (for which they received the Uderzo prize), as well as a 22-page album on the legendary bluesman Lead Belly with the novelist Jos�-Louis Bocquet on the script at Nocturne publishing. In 2009, he worked on the ambitious O'Boys project, in a duo with Philippe Thirault and then Stephan Colman, mixing atmospheres � la Mark Twain and the legend of Robert Johnson. Then, still at Dargaud, he drew XIII Mystery with Laurent-Fr�d�ric Boll�e on the script. In 2017, he published Cinq branches de coton noir in black and white with Dupuis editions (sc. Yves Sente), followed closely by the release of the album in color. In 2018, the work was awarded the Prix de la BD int�gr� at the Rencontres brestoises de la bande dessin�e, the Prix Diagonale � Le Soir for the best album in Belgium and the Prix Coup de c�ur at the Quai des Bulles Festival in Saint-Malo. Five years later, still in black and white, the author returned with Le combat d'Henry Fleming, the adaptation of The Red Badge of Courage , a founding novel of modern American literature written by Stephen Crane, published by Dupuis in the Aire Libre collection. The album was the subject of an exhibition at the Angoul�me International Comics Festival when it was released in 2024 and won the Grand Prix RTL de la BD the same year.
