DescriptionCheck out these 2 very nice SPIRIT cover pencils, which were drawn entirely by the great Will EISNER in 1984! This nice piece features a shipwreck in the background as "THE SPIRIT" battles a vulture on a shoreline, while Julia and Mr. Carrion watch from behind! The 2nd cover prelim is mostly stat with the Vulture replaced with drawn tentacles from a giant octopus drawn in place of the vulture. The Spirit head and left arm are all drawn art on the 2nd prelim also. BOTH Covers are drawn on 8.5 by 11 inch art paper, as all cover prelims from this series were drawn this size. Just 2 great cover prelims by this iconic artist, drawing his GREATEST CREATION of the Golden Age! There is a #11 written in upper left of prelim, but this issue looks nothing like the issue #11 comic. Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above! It fascinates me how from growing up in the 1970s as a kid with little money, I had to work on my paper route to have funds to buy all of the comics I loved as a kid. And growing older I was able to buy more expensive comics as I saved my money while in the U.S. Army at West Point from 1985-1989 and I was able to finally buy my very first pages of comic art in 1989 and it has been an unbelievable roller coaster ride ever since that point trying to find the Amazing Spiderman #1-297 pages and Spiderman strip art from 1-3-1977 to 11-9-1980 I love so dearly and covet!! |
